Last night, we watched this movie, Flightplan. It's a nice movie. I just feel that it's quite slow or dragging, but the plot is interesting. It's about a wife, Kyle Pratt (Jodie Foster)who had just lost her husband in a mysteriousand unexpected death. She decided to leave the place where they used to live (Berlin) and move to New York together with her 6 - year old daughter, Julia who was hesitant at that time because she's afraid. After some prodding and promise that Pratt would be holding her "all the way", the child conceded. They were the first one to board the 474 aircraft. Julia had some apprehensions but Pratt encouraged her again by telling her that she helped in designing the plane. That's why she knows that everything would be all right. After sometime, Pratt felt asleep and found that her daughter was missing. She looked everywhere and even asked the captain to have a full search. When everything's done, her daughter was not found and all evidences showed that her daughter was never on board. Though the entire passengers and crew of the plane doubted her sanity, Pratt did everything to solve the mystery and save her daughter.
It talks about caring for other people, that you have to look after the welfare of others also and not just your own. Just imagine, nobody saw Kyle's daughter, though she was talking to her all the time? And they even moved from their seats to another, I think, it's at the "back" of the plane. Evrybody seemed to have the "mind your own business" kind of thinking. It's like nobody cares at all!
It also gives this reminder not to judge people by their looks. When Pratt was already devastated, she saw an Arab who was also on board and she interrogated her. She even accused the man as the kidnapper of her daughter.
This film also shows the power of mother's instinct. When almost everybody was saying that her daughter was already dead and that she was not on board, she firmly believed that "my daughter is alive" and she proved that amidst all the physical challenges that she encountered.
It's a nice movie. We enjoyed it, I hope that you will too! :)
